Chomuzangari Women's Cooperative

Nutritious Vegetable Garden

Home based gardens dates back to prehistoric times. However when women get together and choose to work collectively, they not only support or encourage each other but they share information on nutrient rich food for their families. Chomuzangari Women’s Cooperative  grow and supply nutritious food all year round.
They also generate income from the sale of their vegetables to the near by school and plans are underway to grow the market to the nearby towns.
The women in the community started a one hectare nutrition garden and planted Rodade tomatoes, Texas Grano Onions, Green Beans, Sweet cabbage, Kale and English giant rape. This means that they will never again travel 90 kilometres to Chivi growth point or 140 kilometres to Masvingo town to purchase fresh vegetables.
