Water Project Success!

Thousands of people in Chomuzangari village now have access to clean water thanks to our project with Hope Foundation, funded by the Welsh Government through Hub Cymru Africa.
The Welsh Government Wales for Africa programme provided funds to install a borehole, solar pump and 5000 litre storage tank. Community members volunteered their labour to make bricks and install many parts of the system. For the first time in their history, the burden of fetching water normally collected in faraway areas, averaging between 3-8 kilometres, came to an end. Almost all women in the village are now within a 500 metre radius of a water point.
Children now do not have the burden of missing school because of obligations to fetch water and have more time for school work. Below women celebrate with song and dance to the success of the project.
